SHORE HILL HOUSING-BROOKLYN NY
The Shore Hill project encompasses exactly what we do at MDU; Intercom, CCTV (Fixed and PTZ cameras, elevator cameras, DVR’s), Access Control, Photo id Badging, Gate Control, Electronic Door Locking Hardware, 19″ Rack Mounting system, and IP networking of DVR’s to multiple locations within the complex.
Shore Hill Housing in Bay Ridge has been in operation since 1977 with 558 rent-subsidized units for the elderly and disabled. Shore Hill is managed by Shore Road Community Services which is an affiliate corporation formed by Lutheran Medical Center.
Shore Hill is made up of 2 buildings with 275 and 283 apartments. The two buildings are connected by an above ground tunnel/hallway, with a security station located at each building. There is a management office located in the west building, and a secured parking lot with a guard booth and gate control at the East Building.
MDU supplied and installed a digital audio intercom system from bpt technologies to allow for communication between the apartments and the respective security stations, and for communication between the security stations and the main entry doors.
The system consisted of recessed NOVA digital hands free stations for the apartments (shown below), a security station for each security desk, and single button call stations for the main entry doors.

MDU supplied and installed an access control and CCTV integration package from Vicon Industries. This system provided access control cards with photo id badging, so that every tenant had an access/id card (with picture) for gaining access to the building. The access system included an RF transmitter/receiver system from Linear for the parking gate arm control. When completed, the building will have 10 controlled doors, a controlled parking gate and 45 CCTV cameras, 7 of which are PTZ motorized.
Each elevator has a super wide angle stainless steel corner mounted camera to monitor the safety of tenants in the elevators.
An Exterior PTZ camera was installed at the rear maintenance area of both buildings to monitor daily traffic of supplies and maintenance employees.
The main entrance of each building has a card reader from HID and a PTZ camera on ceiling (top right). When a tenant swipes their access card to gain access, the security guard matches the CCTV camera video image with the photo id picture that appears on the security screen.

The tunnel walls are made of solid concrete requiring wire mold and surface boxes for the card readers.
The back of the parking lot is monitored by two fixed position day/night cameras with IR radiation.
